Get your oil changed regularly because if the oil is dirty all your tries to minimize fuel consumption will be vain. When oil gets dirty it can do harm to your engine’s life.  If you use natural oil, try to select the lightest one. The lighter oil you use the better your car works. When you use the air  conditioner during driving around the city it makes the engine  work harder and fuel consumption increases. But some researches show that when you are driving at highway especially in a speeds car sometimes fuel consumption increases when the air conditioner is on.

You can control the amount of fuel consumed  by monitoring how hard the engine works.

Air conditioner, speed and  acceleration, all of them influence your car’s work but they are not exact indicators. You should  monitor the revolutions per minute your engine is doing at. It is like feeling  your pulse to get to know if your heart is working hard. Find those  revolutions per minute ranges that are ideal for your vehicle.

If you discover that  the engine is running at more than 3000 R.P.M.s,  you are probably accelerating at an unnecessary low gear. In this case you should ease the pedal off and let the engine run at a higher speed at lower revolutions per minute .

How  to monitor your revolutions per minute? There is a left gage near the speedometer which is called the tachometer. The tachometer measures your revolutions per minute at x1000.An ideal  and more efficient RPM area is between 2000 and 3000 revolutions per minute.
